FBM at the movies: creepy food scenes
One of my favorite classes in college was all about food in films, so I’ve been meaning to start a feature on here about my favorite food movies/scenes. The idea for this post came to me around Halloween, but never came to fruition. I was reminded by it again after attending Kelly’s anti-valentine dinner. Movies with disturbing scenes about food. These scenes are the opposite of appetizing. They creepy, gross, weird and in some cases tummy-churning. So I hope you’re done with lunch…
The dancing chicken in Eraserhead… Sounds fun. It’s not. Yick.
The famous Alien diner scene. Ouch, dude.
The bloody oatmeal scene in Golden Child. (There was no clip for this that I could find, so you get a little comedic break, instead.)
“Maggots, Michael. You’re Eating Maggots.” Eff yeah, Lost Boys!
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover final scene (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
301 302… pretty much the whole movie… (could only find this trailer, which claims it’s a funny movie. um. no.)
Three…Extremes: “Dumplings.” The first short in this Asian horror Trilogy is all about a woman who makes dumplings which keep people looking youthful. Can you guess the secret ingredient?
What are some other creepy food scenes or movies?
This reminds me of the scene in Poltergeist, when the guy is eating a chicken leg, drops it, and sees maggots all over it. Ick.
As for the anti-Valentine post….I will get it up on BarbaricGulp.com soon!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Ridiculous and a eye phobia root cause. (I’d probably eat all of it today)
so many great ones come to mind — making human tempura in “Machine Girl,” chilled monkey brains in “Temple of Doom,” the fat gentleman exploding from overeating in “The Meaning of Life” almost the entirety of the French film “Delicatessen” …
Obviously, the maggoty steak in Poltergeist. And the pie eating contest in Stand By Me.
How bout the lost boys part 1 when he’s eating the chinese food and instead of rice he thinks he’s eating maggots.
