reprezentin’ in the STL!

June 30, 2010

This past week, the Mafia’s home base of St. Louis has been getting some mad recognition in national press! And this time it’s not because of STDs! It’s because we have some fantastic food, culture and drinking in this town.

The New York Times spent 36 hours here, and went to some of FBM’s favorite eateries. Pappy’s, Local Harvest, Franco, Winslow’s Home. They also visited SweetArt Bakery, where you may recall Kelli had an awesome veggie burger with The Church of Burger.

THEN, BBC did a feature on how St. Louis Beer culture is growing and changing. We are known as the home of Anheuser-Busch, but the craft beer scene has been around for quite awhile, and has really blossomed since AB was bought by InBev. Friend of FBM Mike Sweeney, the dude behind STL Hops website, is featured in the video, as well as the founder of Schlafly brewery.

We’re so proud of our humble city! *sniff*

Just found your site today, and had to read this post! I just moved here in March so I’m glad to know my new city gets good press too. Disappointed they didn’t mention the first restaurant I was able to visit first, Sunset 44. Unbelievable food (and wine of course), but I guess the NYT couldn’t get to everything here. Thanks for the post!
