Picnics & Plays

June 7, 2010

One of our favorite things to do in St. Louis every year is attend the Shakespeare Festival in Forest Park. Each summer, the group performs one of the bard’s plays, alternating between comedies & tragedies. The FREE show runs every night except Tuesdays at 8:00 from Memorial Day through Father’s Day.

Go early & set out a blanket to get a good spot, then waiting for the play to begin by eating & drinking. This is how I get Jerad to go with me year after year; I bribe him with good food & pricey wines.

This year we will pack our picnic basket with oozy cheese, cured meat, slow roasted tomatoes, white anchovies, olives, & crusty bread.

Not sure what to pack for a gourmet picnic? Here are some recipes from the mafia gals’ blogs to try…
